Song: The Last Song
Artist: The Smashing Pumpkins
Tabber: Chris Durkin (durkin99@atl.mindspring.com)
Tuning: E A D G B E (standard)

(sounds better tuned to Eb - Adam Stanecki)

(I suppose it could be tuned down a half step if you wanted to play
open chords, but I think it sounds better using barre chords, in which
case you may as well leave it in standard tuning)

There is also a piano going the whole time (and a synth or something
at some points), which is also following these chords, for the most
part.

Chords (in standard tuning):

Ab - 466544
Ab6 - 446564
Db - 446664 (or 9 11 11 10 9 9)
Cm - 335543
Bb - 688766

(The solo is based on the Ab major scale played on the high E string)

Ab
     This is the last song,
                               Ab6 Ab
This is the last song I'll sing for you

This is the last song,
                            Ab6 Ab
This is the last song I can give you
    Db Ab
              The roaring city sleeps,
      Db Ab Db
Metal fingers clutching dirty sheets
                     Ab Cm
And no one comes for free in this place
                 Bb Cm Ab6
where the angels sleep
                 Ab Cm Ab6
This is the last song
                 Ab
This is the last song

Ab
    My eyes are wonder
                       Ab6 Ab
My eyes are open wonder to this

As you hold the secrets
                         Ab6 Ab
I count the minutes off so perfectly
    Db Ab
            The shards of broken glass
         Db Ab Db
Sing the strains of a sad old tune
                 Ab
We've made it at last
            Cm Bb Cm Ab6
but what we had is lost inside our past
                 Ab Cm Ab6
This is the last song
                 Ab
This is the last song
          Db Ab
Could you find a way across me
      Db Ab
To forgive and forget me
      Db Ab
To appease and relent me
      Db Ab
To deceive and detect me
      Db Ab
To understand and release me
       Cm Ab6
To the dawn
                  Ab Cm Ab6
This is the last song
                  Ab Cm Ab6
This is the last song
                  Ab Cm Ab6
This is the last song
                  Ab Cm Ab6
This is the last song

Ab Ab6 Ab
