I was lucky enough to be in attendance on May 2nd at the Metro when the Pumpkins opened for Cheap Trick, which was as i have it figured the first public performance of any of the Adore material. My friend and i paid a small fortune for out tickets, but it was soo worth it, the Pumpkins slinked on at 7:30 dressed in all black, to a crowd who scarecly knew who they were. Rick Neilson of Cheap Trick came out and introduced the band to the audience and then the band went right into "To Sheila" which sounded great, mid-tempo with the occasional pumpkins-style crescendo added in. The rest of the setlist is as follows: "Tear", "Once upon a time", "Daphne Descends"(my personal favorite of the night), "let me give the world to you", "Ava Adore", "Shame" and a 10 minute version of Joy Division's "Transmission" all in all it was a fantastic show, with Billy's between song banter limited to introducing new drummer Kenny Aranoff and a few thank you's to Cheap Trick and the audience. The band sounded amazing, i've seen
them about 10 or 11 times and this was the best they've ever sounded. The
metro is a tiny place, cap. about 1100 and the crowd response was luke
warm seeing as most people had no clue as to who they were.
