Yesterday I felt a very lucky man , because I got to see the Pumpkins for the first time in my life. They played the Lycabbetus hill theatre which is right across the Acropolis under a full pumpkin moon.
There were about 8000 people crammed in a small place and considering the 33C temperature things were getting too hot even before they hit the stage....which happened promptly at 21:30.First James in a black satin shirt, then Billy in a buttoned-up black shirt and leather jacket which he got rid of shortly after, and D'Arcy with a really sexy see-thru and her black horns, and 3 drummers.

They kicked off with an electric "to sheila" and the audience went mad. I'll skip the part about them being the best live thing I've seen ,about how Billy rocks etc."adore" sounds brilliant live. They played (in no particular order,I was a bit off my head): "to sheila",once upon a time" ,"ava adore" ,"Tear", "crestfallen", "daphne descends", "perfect" , "shame", "for martha", and "blank page" from "Adore" as well as a laid-back version of "thru the eyes of ruby", a really heavy "bwbw" a rythmic "tonight tonight" and "1979".They played
each song for about 8 mins. , Billy and James jamming a lot and alternating solo/rythm guitar. The last song of the encore was a cover of  Joy Division's "Transmission" which ,well, you could only identify from the lyrics and which lasted about 20-25 minutes. Billy seemed totally spaced out and started ranting, telling the story of littles Jonny who
could receive all the radio stations in his head etc.  The band seemed a bit not in the mood although the crowd was wild for the whole 2:30 hours they played and even screamed for more. The show was overall a success even though people weren't very familiar with "Adore" and were expecting more oldies but as Billy explained on the greek radio "we're not a greatest hits band" which is fair enough. He also said that they wanted to come to Greece for a long time now but the managers said they'd play in front of 20 people which obviously wasn't the case at all.

Anything you wanna know ,do email me.Thanx for your time.
