Hi, my name is César, and this is my review of the biggest, greatest, ultrasonic, surprising, deligthful, shocking concert of my hole life, well, actually this is the very first concert that I asist in my life (and the Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite band since the Siamese Dream era) ,so maybe you can imagine the experience that I lived the last tuesday night.

Well, the concert was anounced for tuesday 11th at 8:30 p.m., so I leave my home at 6:45, and I arrived at the Sports Palace at 8:45, fortunately the show have not begun yet wen I arrived with my brother, two friends and two cousins. The subway exits were full of people wearing the famous "ZERO" t-shirt, (I was one of them), and quasi-vampires.

Our sits were in the 10th line, so we were at a few meters of the stage, you may imagine the great view that we had since that place!. I was excited about all the guitars that were going to be used by Billy and James, there were about 20, and also I get impressed because of the three drum-machines that were on the stage waiting for been used by the three great percussionists of the tour.

At 9:00 o'clock the lights were turned off and everybody started shouting and whistling, getting ready to receive to the stars of the nigth, and suddenly Kenny Aronof and the other two guys appear on the stage, the next one was the keyboardist Mike Garson, and finally in the middle of a great noise James Iha walked into the stage dressed all in black and took his guitar, then Billy Corgan appeared bettween the euphoria of the public, wearing a black jacket;and without D'arcy, they started playing the first chords of the opening track of his new album Adore: "To Sheila". At that time the public was crazy, but when D'arcy came up, wearing a slink, black, tighted shirt the noise was even louder, and everybody was very excited. This was an electric, longer and heavier version of "To Sheila", the next song was "Behold! the Nigthmare", I though that they were not going to play this one, but they did a beautiful rendering of this great piece. Then they played "Pug" (another one that I though that they were not going to play) and Tear, both songs were played with a heavier feeling than in the album. The next one was an electric version of "Once Upon a Time", with guitar solos from both, James and Billy. I think that all the songs were longer versions than the album ones.

After "Once Upon a Time", the three drummers begun a veryry rithmic sequence, people get excited because we knew that it was "Ava Adore". It sounds really great in the live version, is more like a cyber-metal song, is heavier, rude. In the phrase "It's you that I adore, You will always be my whore", Billy was pointing with his finger to the public. This song was singged by all the audience, I think that the phrase "We must never be apart", was heard in all Mexico City.

The next one was "Blank Page", again, a different and heavier version, with guitar solos, more interesting that the one on the album.

Another reinvented song was "Thru the eyes of Ruby", it stills sound like always, but different, I mean, It's the same song, but with an "Adore" kinda feeling. After this one, finally the Pumpkins spoke to the audience, Billy said in Spanish: "Buenas Noches", then Iha and D'arcy said "Gracias", the public was crazzily happy, then Billy said " We are very excited of been here in Mexico City, and we promise that we'll be back, we want to dedicate this song to all of you, this is "tonigth, tonight"", again the public went mad, and they started playing something like a very latin version of the acoustic Mellon Collie hit. After this, next one was an acoustic version of "Perfect", without drums.

Then the drummers started a great percussion solo, and the Pumpkins join them with a cool jam, in a part James Iha played the "ZERO" riff and suddenly Billy screamed "The world is a vampire", ande they started playing the best version that I have heard of Bullet with Butterfly Wings, it sounds darker, stronger, heavier, with Billy singing alone "despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage", this one was my favorite of the concert. After this they played "Shame" and "For Martha", everybody sang together with Billy this song, even that it's not a single, everybody knew the lyrics of this beauty song.

For the encore they returned to play a fast and rocker version of "1979",everybody was dancing and singing. After this one we started shouting "!!!ZERO;ZERO:ZEROˇˇˇˇ", but they begin to play a 20 minutes cover of Joy Division's "Transmission". Billy begun to clap their hands at the middle of the song, and also he started dancing, then Iha told something to Billy, and a few minutes later he sang the firsts verses of "ZERO", but they didn't play it complete.

Finally at the end of "Transmission", Bily said "Gracias Mexico" and he did something very special for four fans, he invite three girls and a boy to came up to the stage, ande then all the members of the band gave their instruments to this lucky ones so they could play for a little bit, in front of 20,000 persons!. Then in the middle of a great ovation the Pumpkisn leaved the stage smiling because of the great succes that they had that night.
