The concert was scheduled for 8:30 PM, but the Pumpkins appeared on stage around 9 o'clock. Screaming fans that have been waiting for years this moment... The first one was James, then Billy and D'arcy all dressed in black, immediately they went on to:

- TO SHEILA: Electric Dsus2 chord arpeggio intro and then: "Twilight fades through blisered avalon...", Billy had a great voice in this one, the people went crazy!, "You make me real..." the chorus was so powerful that everyone felt it real!.

- BEHOLD! THE NIGHT MARE: Rock style for this one, Billy moving around the stage while James and D'arcy playing concentrated their guitars, "And the night mare rides on!...".

- PUG: No one recognized this one since it started with a strange "bongo type" drum intro, but once Billy started singing: "Kiss and kill me sweetly... Come and drive me home..." while pointing at us with his hands, everyone of us went on to the lyrics; then the chorus: "Inside where it's warm...", and the solo: James playing the album part of it, and Billy messing around the scale in his traditional wild style.

- ONCE UPON A TIME: "Mother I'm tired..." in album style.

- AVA ADORE: Heaviest version of it, with wild guitar solos and Billy's shouts: "Aauuu!!!...". One of the most expected songs of the night.

- TEAR: Drum intro, then lights out and the silence... Billy standing at the microphone with only one spot pointing at him while singing the verse, then the chorus: play of colored lights... "Tear me apart from you...".

Then the Pumpkins went out of the stage, and the drummers began to jam something, people dancing over their seats, while this true masters of percussion where doing their jobs. After 10 minutes of jamming, the Pumpkins returned to the stage while the drummers kept just playing some slow tempo rhythm.

- THRU THE EYES OF RUBY: With just this rhythm Billy started playing some experimental tones on his guitar, then James went on to the main arpeggio of the song, Billy singing: "Wrap me up in always...", nobody expected this song! we went totally mad!, they didn't played it in the power chord form, it was just a melodic solo over the main verses, which sounded best in my opinion :), then the verse and the solo: 2 minutes of Corgan's experimental madness, which added to the song more cosmic feelings..., then the last part of the song: "The night has come to hold us young!... Aaauuuuu!!!...".

Then came some silence, the lights turned on on the stage an suddenly James was yelling at us: "Hola Mexico!!!... Muchas Gracias!!!...", then Billy and D'arcy: "Muchas Gracias!...", after that Billy took the microphone and said: "Unfortunately that's all the spanish we know... We're very happy to be here tonight... We're sorry we hadn't came before... But we promise this won't be the last time... We're going to be back soon...", then James and Billy changed to acoustic guitars and Billy said: "This song is for you and it's called...".

- TONIGHT, TONIGHT: Thousands of people singing and screaming up to the tears!, everyone expected this song. "Time is never time at all...".

- PERFECT: Acoustic, with James playing some electric fills and D'arcy singing in the chorus. Billy waving his hands to us. Another silence and a weird 2 minutes piano solo, then:

- BLANK PAGE: Great piano with light guitar chords. The audience turning on and off their lighters, while Billy singing in the spotlight so melancholic...

- SHAME: Electric, with more experimental guitar fills from Billy and James: "You're gonna walk on home...", then guitar feedbacks and D'arcy moving around the stage, "Hello, goodbye... You know you made us cry...".

- BULLET WITH BUTTERFLY WINGS: Drum jam intro "The world is a vampire...", then Billy singing fast with a different power chords melody on the song: "Despite all my rage... I am still just a rat in a cage!..." and D'arcy swinging around in rock style.

- FOR MARTHA: Piano intro just like the album, then the verse: "Whenever I run...", it turned to heavy electric with "album like" solo by James, and then Billy filling the sky with loud harmonic solos totally for Martha!, ending with the "If you have to go... don't say goodbye..." piano harmony and the delayed-guitar last chord of the song.

Then they gave the thanks to us and all the band went out of the stage, leaving thousands of fans screaming to them to please come back. They didn't turned on the lights of the auditorium, so we waited patiently for 10 minutes of shouting and whistling until they returned to the stage for the encore. We wanted to hear all of their songs!!!.

- 1979: Billy took again the guitar and started playing, fast tempo and heavy style: "Shakedown 1979...", another of the expected songs!, all the audience singing along with Billy, he looked kind of psyched because we were singing so loud! :).

- TRANSMISSION: Guitars/drums jam with a great taste, all of us thought it was Cherub Rock, but then Billy started singing the lyrics of Transmission, great cover! most of us haven't heard it before!, then they changed the rhythm and went onto experimentalism..., Billy dancing on the stage with guitar in "Ozzy" style, then clapping along with the audience and yelling weird voices, while James was imitating Billy's voice with the guitar. Finally, Billy was messing around with the Zero and Tonight, Tonight lyrics. While in the jam he walked to the audience and picked up 2 girls to go up to the stage, he gave his guitar to one of them just to play something, also James did that with some guy; all this while the drummers were still playing!. The audience just went mad!.

Finally the jam ended and they gave the thanks to us again, then Billy and James were shaking their hands with the people at the first line, and they went out of the stage taking the 2 girls and the guy backstage. The lights turned on at the auditorium and all of us went out totally psyched. :) ***********************************************************************

Even though it was their first time in Mexico and we were waiting for classic songs such as Today, Soma, Mayonaise, I Am One, etc., the concert was fucking great!. Well, maybe next time... :)

As a curious thing: I bought an official tour T-shirt inside the auditorium, it has the Adore cover on the front, and on the back has the same picture of the girl and the legend: "The Smashing Pumpkins - World Tour 1998", and has the tour dates with an interesting last one: 8/21 Buenos Aires, Venezuela!. If you people know some general geography you will know what I'm talking about... A mistake or deliberation?.

Peace.
