Installing Windows 95 Start-up Screen
Installing Windows 95 Start-up Screen
Firstly download the file adore.zip and unzip into a temporary directory.
Find the file Logo.sys located in C:\ and rename it. e.g. Logo.bak in case of problems
Copy the newly unzipped file into C:\
Next time you restart your
PC it's there working.
Logo.sys Start-Up screen
located in C:\
Logow.sys Wait screen located
in C:\Windows
Logos.sys Shut off screen
located in C:\Windows
To create the Start-Up Using
MS-Paintbrush Create an alternate screen using LOGOW.sys as a template.
You want to use this particular
file as your template to assure
that you are getting the
color depth and aspect ratio correct.
Otherwise, the system might
not display the colors properly, or worse yet, crash.
2. Save Logo.sys & Logow.sys in .BMP format, and make a copy of originals
3. Open Logow.bmp you will
see that this Bitmap is pulled in. Use Paintbrush
to stretch out to Horizontal
of 150%
IMAGE=>Strecth/Skew
4. Write out your text or draw what you like.
5. Reduce the template to 66% (The original size)
6. Cut and Paste your artwork in the Logo.bmp file and rename to Logo.sys
Note: The reason for all the extra steps is that Logo.sys must be 127K, smaller or bigger will not work. By pasting into logo.sys we retain the original aspect of the photo and will have a type that fits this ratio.
Lastly, If you do create
one of your own Pumpkins Start-up, Wait or Shut-off Screens,
I would be
happy to include links to them on this site.
